ADVERTISEMENT FOR ADMISSION INTO FULL-TIME AND PART TIME PROGRAMMES FOR 2017/2018 ACADEMIC YEAR.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the under-listed Full-Time and Part-Time (Weekdays and Weekends) Programmes of the Port Harcourt Polytechnic for the 2017/2018 academic year.
Port Harcourt Polytechnic [Full-time/PT] Programmes Admission Form - 2017/2018

1. SCHOOL OF FINANCIAL STUDIES
i. Higher National Diploma (HND) Programme in Accountancy

Duration: Full time; two Academic Sessions of two semesters each.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
  1. Applicants must possess National Diploma in Accountancy or Banking and Finance with a minimum of Lower Credit from Port Harcourt Polytechnic, or any recognized Polytechnic plus at least one year post ND relevant industrial work experience.
  2. Applicants who have passed ATS or ICAN foundation stages are qualified to apply. In addition, applicants must satisfy all the requirements for admission into the relevant ND programmes in the School of Financial Studies in Port Harcourt Polytechnic which include five (5) credit passes in GCE ‘O Level or SSCE or WASC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics plus three (3) other relevant subjects from Economics/Commerce, Business Studies, Principle of Accounts, Statistics, Geography, Government, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics and History/Government.
  3. Applicants from other institutions should ensure that their academic transcripts are forwarded by their institutions early enough to the Acting Registrar, Port Harcourt Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt.

2. DIPLOMA AND NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) PROGRAMMES

SCHOOL OF FINANCIAL STUDIES
Duration full time; two (2) years
i. Accountancy
ii. Banking and Finance

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess five (5) Credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) subjects relevant to area or discipline of choice.

3. SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ADMINISTRATIVE STUDIES:
Duration: Full Time: Two (2) years

i) Business Administration and Management
ii) Office Technology and Management (Secretarial Administration)
iii) Marketing
iv) Public Administration

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess five (5) Credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) subjects relevant to area or discipline of choice.

4. SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
Duration: Full Time: Two (2) years

i. Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology
ii. Computer Engineering Technology

5. SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES:
Duration: Full Time: Two (2) years

i. Architectural Technology
ii. Urban and Regional Planning
iii. Building Technology
iv. Surveying and Geo-Informatics
v. Transportation Planning and Logistics

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess five (5) Credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level or SSCE or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) subjects in Arts or Science relevant to area or discipline of choice.

In addition to the general entry requirement applicants must obtain one (1) credit pass from any of the following Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Building Construction, Woodwork, Concreting, Carpentry, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Geography and Economics.

6. SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Duration: Full Time: Two (2) years

i) Agricultural Technology (General Agriculture)
ii) Statistics
iii) Computer Science
iv) Science Laboratory Technology

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess five (5) Credit passes in GCE O/Level or SSCE or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) Subjects relevant to area or discipline of choice.

In addition to the above, applicants must possess a credit pass in any one (1) of the following: Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics/Geography, Biology, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Woodwork and Basic Electronics/ Basic Electricity.

7. SCHOOL OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
Duration: Full Time: Two (2) years

i) Mass Communication
ii) Library and Information Science

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess five (5) Credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level or SSCE or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two sittings including English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics and any two (2) subjects relevant to the programme.

8. INSTITUTE OF LEGAL AND GLOBAL STUDIES
Duration: Full Time: Two (2) years

i) Law

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess five (5) Credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level or SSCE or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) subjects relevant to area or discipline of choice one of which must be Literature in English.

9. SCHOOL OF FOUNDATION AND GENERAL STUDIES
i) Interim Joint Matriculation Examination Board (IJMBE) Programme
ii) University of Cambridge International GCE ‘A’ Level Programme
iii) Remedial Programme

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR IJMBE AND A/L, ‘O’ LEVEL (I&II)
Applicants must possess five (5) Credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level or SSCE or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) subjects in Arts, or Sciences or Social Sciences relevant to area or discipline of choice.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR REMEDIAL PROGRAMME
Applicants must have attempted GCE ‘O’ Level or SSCE or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent and are deficient in basic ‘O’ Level Subjects.

10. INSTITUTE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION (ICE) “WEEKLY AND WEEKEND PROGRAMME”.
i. HND Accountancy
Duration: Five (5) Semesters

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess National Diploma in Accountancy or Banking and Finance with a minimum of lower credit grade from Port Harcourt Polytechnic, or any recognized Polytechnic plus at least one year post ND relevant industrial work experience.

Applicants who have passed ATS or ICAN foundation stages are qualified to apply for admission into Higher National Diploma in Accountancy. Applicants with Advanced Certificate in Accountancy are also qualified to apply. In addition, applicants must satisfy all the requirements for admission into the relevant ND
Programmes in the School of Financial Studies, Port Harcourt Polytechnic which include five (5) credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level or SSCE or WASC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics plus three (3) other – relevant subjects from Economics/Commerce, Business Studies, Principles of Accounts, Statistics, Geography, Government, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics and History/Government.

Applicants from other institutions should ensure that their academic transcripts are forwarded by their various institutions early enough to the Registrar, Port Harcourt Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt.

11. PART TIME DIPLOMA AND NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) PROGRAMMES -2 ½ Years
i) Public Administration
ii) Law
iii) Accountancy
iv) Business Administration and Management
v) Computer Science
vi) Statistics
vii) Mass Communication
viii) Marketing
ix) Banking and Finance
x) Office Technology & Management

Duration: Part Time Five (5) Semesters

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (i-x)
Applicants must possess five (5) Credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level or SSCE or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) Subjects relevant to area or discipline of choice.

12. PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
i) Professional Diploma in Safety and Security Management
ii) Professional Diploma in Occupational Health and Environmental Risk Management

Duration: Part Time Six (6) Months.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (i-ii)
Applicants must possess GCE ‘O’ Level or SSCE or WAEC or NECO or NTC or NABTEB or its equivalent with three (3) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings including English Language and Mathematics and any Arts, Sciences subject relevant to area of discipline of choice.

Note: Admission into the National Diploma Programmes is open to candidates who sat and passed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for 2017/2018 and scored 150 points and above. Candidates who did not choose Port Harcourt Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt may also apply as there are very limited opportunities for admissions into ND Programmes for 2017/2018 Academic year.

METHOD OF APPLICATION
  1. Applications for all programmes should be done online through the Polytechnic’s Website www.portharcourtpoly.edu.ng or http://ecampus.portharcourtpoly.edu.ng .
  2. Application form costs Ten thousand Naira (N10, 000.00) only. All applicants are required to pay additional one thousand five Hundred Naira (N1500.00) only and three Hundred Naira (N300.00) only as portal and bank charges respectively.
  3. All interested candidates are expected to apply online by logging into the Polytechnic’s portal: www.portharcourtpoly.edu.ng or http://ecampus.portharcourtpoly.edu.ng to make an e-payment. Candidates can make the e-payment by either generating a transaction ID for the fee online and then proceed to any of the designated Banks (Zenith Bank, First Bank, UBA, Fidelity Bank, Sterling Bank, FCMB and Union Bank) to pay, using the Pay Direct option or with an Interswitch enabled Verve or Master Card.
  4. Please note that you are required to submit your application receipt to the Bursary Department for verification before proceeding to the Admissions Office for submission.
  5. All Completed online forms must be printed and submitted to the Admissions Office with confirmed Application receipts and other supporting documents/credentials not later than 31st August, 2017.
