Osun State Polytechnic, Iree Rector Appointed as CAPA Rector

The Executive Board of Commonwealth Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (CAPA) has appointed the rector, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Dr. Jacob Olusola Agboola as a member of the Board.

Dr Agboola, by the appointment will be the Co-ordinator and Regional Representative for member countries in CAPA’s Western Region, comprising Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Gambia and Sierra Leone.
A statement signed by the Secretary General of the association, Dr. Olubunmi Owoso states that “following the election undertaken on April 26, 2017 in Cape Town by the General Conference of Heads of member institutions of the Commonwealth Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (CAPA), I write to formally convey your appointment on the CAPA Executive Board as the Regional Representative for member countries in CAPA’s Western Region, comprising Cameroon, Ghana, the Gambia and Sierra Leone”.
Owoso described Dr. Agboola’s appointment as a clear testimony of the recognition by “his colleagues of his strong commitment to growing technical skills and manpower for economic growth and development in Africa”. The statement charged him to work strenuously towards the achievement of the association’s goals and objectives.
In a related development, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree has been made the secretariat of the Network for Agricultural Technical Education of Nigeria (NATEN), a Non-governmental Organization that is dedicated to Agricultural Education through Farmer-to-Farmer training in collaboration with Winrock International and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The organization which comprises polytechnics and other institutions that engage in provision of modern Agricultural training recently appointed Dr. Agboola as its secretary in Nigeria.
