CRUTECH Gets Full Accreditation On Programmes By NUC

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to the Architecture and Wood Products Engineering programmes of the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH, Calabar.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, who made this known in Calabar, the state capital recently, explained that the university had secured professional accreditation for the programmes earlier in 2016.
According to him, “Architecture and Wood Products Engineering in 2015 earned interim accreditation, which however became denied because of the back to back interim results.”
The VC advised candidates registering for the 2017 JAMB UTME to apply for admission into any of the two courses of the university.
“Candidates registering for the forthcoming JAMB are now free to choose any of the courses for admission,” he said.
It would be recalled that the River-owned university had in 2015 secured full accreditation in 19 out of the 25 programmes presented to the NUC for accreditation.
Nigerian Chronicle also learnt that the university is set to present ten other programmes this year for accreditation by the NUC.
Meanwhile the university authority has warned students indebted to the institution to clear their debts or face sanctions.
A statement signed by the management and made available to Nigerian Chronicle said the Senate of the university had decided that students who owed not more than a semester’s fees of N37,000 would be allowed to write the forthcoming examination, while “those owing for a session’s fees of N74,000 and above are by the Senate decision suspended from the university.”
The statement noted that the affected students have been given up to May 12, 2017 to pay up all their outstanding fees or lose their studentship.
“Such students can only be readmitted upon application and payment of all outstanding fees,” the statement emphasized.
