Accommodation at Vaatia College, Makurdi.

Vaatia College is a strictly boarding secondary school. All the students stay in hostels within the College premises.

The facilities in the hostels include beds, bathrooms, toilets, laundry, and adequate power and water supply.

Boys and girls have separate hostels and are strictly prohibited from entering or loitering around each other’s hostels.

Admissions at Viaatia College Makurdi.

Vaatia College routinely admits students into JSS 1 every year. We take a maximum of 60 students per set. Non routine admissions may occur when a current student leaves the school and creates a vacancy. Only vacancies in JSS1 and SSS1 will be considered.

Admission is on the basis of assessment and behaviour but no pupil will be disadvantaged by the school by virtue of gender, race, religion or socio economic status

The purpose of the Admissions Policy is to ensure that the admissions process is consistent and fair to all applicants. The policy is regularly monitored and reviewed, and may be subject to change. The Principal of the College has overall responsibility for admissions and the operation of this policy. Details of the assessment process, and deadlines for application, are available as you read through. They are also available at the College Admissions Office.

Entrance assessments for JSS 1 are normally held on the first Saturday in May of the year admission is sought and assessments for other year groups arranged as required. No particular preparation for the entrance tests is required; all candidates start on an equal footing, with the opportunity to display their academic potential. All candidates sit papers in English, Maths and General Paper which are designed for their age group.

The College selects for entry those children who have the potential to benefit from the education the College offers, and who meet the “Criteria for entry”, outlined below.

Admissions into the JSS I Classes

Vaatia College admits students from the age of 11 years into the JSS I Classes. We offer a 6-year Secondary School programme.

No particular preparation for the entrance tests is required; all candidates start on an equal footing, with the opportunity to display their academic potential. All candidates for entry sit papers in English, Maths and General Paper which are designed for their age group.

The Admission procedure is as follows:

1. Collect an Application Form from the College office or from Towering Tots School Makurdi after paying the specified application fee. Or download application form.

2. For Application fee payment and Account information click Bursary. This fee and other fees should be paid at any branch of Diamond Bank Plc.

3. Complete and return the Application form together with three passport-sized photographs and a photocopy of the birth certificate of the child (or other proof of child’s age) on or before Friday, 21st April, 2017.

4. Please ensure that your child is of the correct age (11 years by Sept. 2017). The College has a strict policy in this area.

5. Entrance examinations will be held on Saturday May 6th, 2017 from 9:00 AM-2:25 PM.

6. Candidates must arrive at the examination Hall at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the first paper. The College gate will be locked at 8:30 a.m. on that day.

7. Examination Centre is Vaatia College, Off Sen. George Akume Road, Makurdi.

8. Candidates are to come along with pencil, biro, ruler, eraser, pencil and sharpener.

9. Parents should leave the College premises after dropping candidates. They should come back at 2:30 p.m. to collect their wards.

10. On the successful completion of the Entrance examinations and Interviews, a student may be offered a place through a Letter of Admission. The Letter of  Admission remains valid only for the stated period. You will be required to pay the appropriate Registration Fees if you wish to confirm the offer.

11. Lunch shall be provided for all candidates. Parents are therefore not to bring snacks or any food items into the College premises.

12. Admission into the JSS I Classes is dependent on the examination scores. (An average score of 60% is usually the minimum requirement).

13. Results will be released at the College Office and also posted online five working days after the date of the Examinations.

14. Supplementary Examinations may be written at other times. Dates for these examinations shall be announced by the College.

15. Failure to pay the appropriate fees by the stipulated dates will mean that your child cannot be guaranteed a place at Vaatia College.

16. All fees paid are non-refundable.

How to Apply for Admission into Viaatia College Makurdi.

To make an application for entry into Vaatia College, an application form must be completed and submitted to the Admissions Office. Information on the application form is used to assist in processing the application as smoothly as possible and to provide the College with information to help inform its decision.

The College reserves the right to contact the applicant's current school and ask for a report on the applicant. Information given in this report will be taken into account by the College in assessing whether the applicant is to be admitted.

If the applicant has any specific learning difficulties, or any medical condition or disability, parents must notify the College in writing prior to the assessment day. The College will determine whether special conditions will apply to the applicant in the assessments, based on the information provided. All applications receive full consideration prior to reaching a decision. Once a decision has been reached, it should be regarded as final.

Admissions Procedure at Vaatia College Makurdi.

  2. Complete and return the Application form to the College Office together with three passport-sized photographs and a photocopy of the birth certificate of the child (or other proof of child’s age) on or before the specified date.
  3. Please ensure that your child is of the correct age (11 years by Sept. of the year admission is sought).   The College has a strict policy in this area.
  4. Routine entrance examinations will normally be held on first Saturday in May of the year admission is sought.
  5. Time is 9:00 AM - 2:25 PM.
  6. Examination Centre is Vaatia College, Off Abu King Shuluwa Road, Makurdi.
  7. Candidates are to come along with pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser, biro, and ruler
  8. Parents are expected to leave the College premises after dropping candidates. They are only allowed into the College premises after 2:30 p.m. to pick their wards.
  9. Lunch is will be provided for all candidates. Parents are therefore not allowed to bring snacks or any food items into the College premises.
  10. Admission into the JSS I Classes is dependent on the examination scores. (An average score of 60% is usually the minimum requirement).
  11. Results for the entrance examinations are released at the College Office and posted on the College website a week after the date of the examination.

*Supplementary Examinations may be written at other times. Dates for these examinations are announced by the College. 

Acceptance of a place at Viaatia College Makurdi.

  1. A place is deemed to have been accepted only when the specified fees and all required paperwork is received by the Admissions Office. Verbal confirmation is not sufficient.
  2. You will be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit of N100,000 although we prefer that you settle the entire academic term’s fees in advance
  3. If a place is not accepted within the deadline stated by the College, the College may deem the offer of a place to have been declined, and may withdraw the offer without further notification.
Failure to pay the appropriate fees by the stipulated dates will mean that a candidate cannot be guaranteed a place at Vaatia College. All fees paid are non-refundable.
