Full List of 2018 Scholarships For African Students.

Students from African can apply for scholarship to assist with meeting the financial requirements to study the course of their choice. We have put together a long list of scholarship available to African students looking to study in Africa or overseas.

To study anywhere:
  1. Africa London Nagasaki (ALN) Fund – this is a Graduate scholarship for students from Africa to access funding for a master’s degree in a program related to disease control in Africa. Winners of the scholarship can choose to study at London’s Institute of Tropical Medicine, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine or at Nagasaki University in Japan.
  2. Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship Programme – open to African students who need scholarship to study a master’s or PhD program anywhere in the world.
  3. Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships – scholarship is open to African students from the Commonwealth to study a master’s degree from selected universities in the UK and worldwide.
  4. The Beit Trust Scholarships – this scholarship is open to students from Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe to study in the UK, Ireland or South Africa at a prestigious university.
  5. Wells Mountain Foundation Scholarships – international scholarships for students from developing countries (including African nations) to access funding for university at home or abroad.
  6. Women Techmakers Scholars Program – Scholarships is for women from Africa (including Europe and the Middle East) to study computer science, computer engineering or any related field at any level at a university in one of the regions mentioned above.
Available in Africa:
  1. ACCES Kenya – Scholarships is for students from Kenya to study at undergraduate level at any accredited university in Kenya.
  2. Mandela Rhodes Scholarships – Scholarships for Africans with strong leadership qualities to study for an honors or master’s degree at any participating university in South Africa.
  3. Jim Ovia Scholarship – Scholarships is for Nigerian students to get funding to study at undergraduate level in Nigeria.
  4. TRECCAfrica Scholarships – scholarship is for African students who wish to pursue a Master’s or PhD program. Grants can cover either partial or full funding to study at participating African universities.
  5. WAAW Foundation Scholarships – Scholarships is for female students from Africa who wish to pursue a STEM-focused undergraduate program (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) at a participating African university.
Available in Asia-Pacific:
  1. Master’s Degree ABE Initiative – Scholarship is open to Africans to study in Japan on a development-related master’s degree program at any accredited university.
  2. Australia Awards Africa – Australian government scholarships for Africans to get funding to study in Australia on a professional training course or a master’s degree.
Available in Belgium:
  1. VLIR-UOS Awards Scholarships – Graduate scholarships open to students from Africa, Asia and Latin America to study in Belgium on a development related master’s or training program.
Available in Germany:
  1. DRD-DAAD Merit Scholarships – Scholarships is for Africans from sub-Saharan regions to study a development related master’s or PhD program in Germany.
Available in the Netherlands:
  1. Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) – Short course, master’s degree and PhD scholarships to students from Africa wishing to study in the Netherlands. 50% of total budget goes to female applicants, while the other 50% is available to applicants from sub-Saharan Africa.
Available in the UK: 
  1. African Excellence Fee Waiver at The University of Glasgow – International scholarships available to African students and covers the full tuition fee of a master’s degree at the University of Glasgow. Selection is strictly by academic merits.
  2. African Graduate scholarships at UCL – Scholarships is for Africans to study in the UK at UCL (University College London) pursuing a master’s program in the Institute for Global Health.
  3. African Postgraduate Scholarships at Edinburgh Napier University – Merit-based scholarships for Africans to get partial tuition funding to study in the UK at Edinburgh Napier University.
  4. Commonwealth Scholarships at SOAS – Commonwealth scholarships available to students from commonwealth countries in Africa to study in the UK at SOAS (London) on a development related master’s degree.
  5. Ruth First Scholarship  Durham University – Scholarships for African students from Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe for a postgraduate study in the UK at Durham University.
  6. Oppenheimer Fund Scholarships at Oxford University – Scholarships is strictly for African students who have previously studied at a South African university to study in the UK at Oxford University.
  7. African Scholarships at The University of Edinburgh – Merit-based scholarships  available to study in the UK at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) for a master’s or PhD program.
  8. The Centre of African Studies Visiting Fellowship at The University of Cambridge –fellowships for students from Africa to conduct research and writing at the University of Cambridge.
  9. The Ibrahim Scholarship Programme – Master’s degree scholarships for aspiring African students who wish to study in the UK at the London Business School, SOAS or the University of Birmingham.
Available in the US: 
  1. Fulbright Foreign Student Program – International scholarships for African graduate students, young professionals and artists across the globe to study in the US..
  2. Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders – Scholarships for African students from sub-Saharan Africa to study in the US aims at improving leadership and business skills.
  3. MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program – Scholarships for students from Africa to study in the US and Africa.
  4. MSFS Full-Tuition Scholarship @ Georgetown University – Scholarships for African students from sub-Saharan Africa to study in the US and is only for the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University in Washington DC.
  5. Stanford Africa MBA Fellowship @ Stanford University – Scholarships for Africans who wish to study at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business on the MBA program.
  6. Zawadi Africa Education Fund for Young African Women – Scholarship is for female students from poor backgrounds from Africa to study in other African countries or the US.
