What is Community Development?
Community development is a practice of a communal group of people that agree to undertake certain actions in common views to resolve rising challenges and difficulties in the community.
In Nigeria, Community development has become a major role taken upon by leaders, experts, community heads, concerned citizens, vibrant advocates and even residents of the community in order to tackle challenges facing the community.
Community development elevates standards and ethics of the community; building a fervent and improved/developed community. The essence of community development is to enhance both socio-economic and personal/communal initiatives.
Roles of Community Development
Community development as earlier stated above, plays vital roles in the community as stated below:

- Community development improves the well-being of NGO's, community developed agencies, businesses and personal attributes.
- Community development eradicates poverty. Poor living standards are eliminated with the presence of community development.
- Important projects tends to get faster completion with the presence of community development.
- Community development creates good relationship between residents of the community and even; entrepreneurs present in the community.
Problems facing Community Development
In any good, there must be the odd side of it provided man's mentality is needed in any way or the other.
Listed below are some of the problems of community development in Nigeria.
- Poor relationship between residents of the community and local leaders/heads.
- Absence of people willing to grow
- Inadequate financial support from the government and other NGO present
- Corruption in the land
- Poor knowledge of how to develop a community to compete with desired targets.
- Presence of many ideas that won't be looked at even as good as they tend to be.
Conclusion
In as much as community development requires the skills and contribution from individuals living in that locality, everyone is entitled to his own opinion of how they regulate the affairs of the community.
Communal growth should be a watch-word in order to succeed. As stated, community development is a vital aspect to the growth of any society in Nigeria and any part of the world. Nigeria is a fast growing country that requires good and ready-to-do leaders that will embark more on building its community.
