The Vice Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University Oyo, Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo F. Asaju has identified integrity and hard work as some of the vital ingredients required in University Administration. He revealed this in his remarks during the inauguration of the institution’s chapter of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators [ANUPA].
He advised members to always show integrity in the discharge of their duty and ensure that they do not disclose confidential issues decided upon during meetings. He enjoined members of the association in the university to display qualities that will portray them as good ambassadors of the group.
In her own remarks the Registrar of the institution, Mrs. Adenike Fatogun, told the members that the association was not a trade union and must never be seen as such, saying it was an avenue for university administrators to exchange ideas and tap from themselves in order to run their universities well. She said the body also organizes trainings for university administrators given that trainings were important for university workers.
While inaugurating the body, National President of the Association Barrister I. I. Igwe, from Imo State University, Owerri said the association was formed in 1981 and backed by law as registered trustee and chantey. He said the body organizes trainings for senior and junior administrators twice a year.
He said the association believes that the strength of any organization and, indeed any university is in her staff, teaching and non-teaching. Consequently the thrust of ANUPA remains ensuring that a variety of trainings is made available in order for staff to be productive in their different roles within the university and develop as individuals.
32 members of staff of the institution were inducted as members of the association after taking their oath of allegiance and good conduct. Members of the National Executive of the body that came for the induction include Mrs. Hauwa Lami Temine from the University of Jos [National Legal Adviser] and Sarafadeen Adebisi from Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu Ode [National Secretary].
