NYSC DG Advices Corps Members On Self-Employment

The Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, has advised Corps members to embrace the option of establishing small or medium scale businesses after service instead of searching for white collar jobs.

NYSC DG Advices Corps Members On Self-Employment

He gave the advice while addressing the 2017 Batch 'A' (Stream One) Corps members at the Orientation camp at Eziama Obaire, Imo State.

Kazaure reminded them that white collar jobs were not easy to come by, adding that self-employment was the way to go.

"I don't want you to be roaming the streets in search of jobs that are not there. Try and establish your own business no matter how small and nurture it to growth," he said.

The Director-General further enjoined them to make hard work and honesty their watchwords, and to always avoid sharp practices.

He also urged the Corps members to use the platform of the NYSC Community Development Service to help in transforming their host communities.

Earlier, the NYSC Imo Coordinator, Mr. James Olugbodi, said 1,637 Corps members were registered in the camp. He called them disciplined, loyal and diligent.

Olugbodi said facilities at the camp were overstretched, but acknowledged the effort of the state government in providing a borehole and the on-going construction of additional hostels.
