IAUE Set to Introduce 65 Skills to Enhance Employability of Graduantes

The Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele has revealed that the university is concluding arrangements with corporate organizations to commerce hands on training in over sixty five skills to enhance the employability of its graduates.
Speaking when members of the National Association of Rumuorlumeni students paid him a courtesy visit in his office, he advised it was time students began to acquire relevant vocational skills to compliment their academic qualifications if they must escape the high unemployment in the country.
Making reference to some of his former students who are earning decent living from the skills they acquired while pursuing their degrees, he advised the students on proper time management rather than engaging in unproductive ventures while in school.
He reassured that the university would fulfill all promises made to the Rumuorlumeni people on the day he led his Administrative team on a courtesy visit to the community.
Among the promises were tuition free scholarships to qualified indigent indigens , offer of admission to those who meet the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), benchmark on university admission, and offer of employment to qualified graduates when the State Government gives the nod.
Commending the students on their community development and skills acquisition initiatives, he assured that the university would partner with them in that regard.
He however, reminded the body that the university had no cash to donate, but would offer expertise and its facilities to them, especially in the area of skills acquisition.
He cautioned them to shun vices and any act that would be detrimental to the existing peace and development of the community, as he commended the cordial relationship between the university and the community.
Earlier, the president of the body, comrade Godson Nelson, had sought the assistance of the university to enable it accomplish some community development and skills acquisition initiatives.
Among the requests of the students body were computers and books for its library project, waiver for applicants with low JAMB scores, cut in hostel free as well as resource persons for its planned seminar/ workshop slated for November, 2017.
The body also solicited for financial assistance from the school, award of contracts to the association, also commended the university for the books it had earlier donated to them and reassured that the body would continue to advocate for peace while also collaborating with security agencies to ensure security of lives and property in Rumuorlumeni land.
