The matriculation ceremony which was held at the University Multipurpose Hall saw newly admitted students in their matriculation gowns gathered at the hall for the ceremony.

However, it was gathered that 4,630 full time students, and 600 part-time students, totaled 5,230 students were matriculated.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, while addressing the students at the ceremony, expressed that records show that 17,739 students applied to the University for this Session Full-time Undergraduate Programmes, out of which only about 26 percent were offered admission.

He said, “As records show, 17,739 students applied to the university this session for full-time undergraduate programmes out of which only about 26 percent were offered admission. You must therefore consider yourselves blessed to belong to this paltry number. This realization must put a huge responsibility on you to face your studies squarely and be the best that you can be.”

Also, Ajibefun urged parents of these matriculating students and other parents of students in AAUA to join hands and cooperate with the university in providing functional training to the students and in moulding them to be responsible students and ultimately become valuable world citizens.

“Parents of the students in AAUA should cooperate with the university in providing functional training to the students in moulding them to be responsible students. Besides, AAUA has zero tolerance for indiscipline, vices, and crimes. As you take your Matriculation Oath today, I urge you to desist from vices such as cultism, examination misconduct, armed robbery, kidnapping rape and violent tendencies that can rob you of your hard-earned studentship.” He said.

Ajibefun implored the matriculating students to be committed, and also be good ambassadors of the University, their Family, the Nation and the World. - Nigerian Cable
