JAMB Reshedules New UTME Exam From LAUTECH To Ilorin Over Protest

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has finally arranged for a new location of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME which was earlier scheduled to take place at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH in Ogbomoso, to Ilorin but due to students’ protest.

A statement passed by JAMB spokesman, Fabian Benjamin disclosed that the board had made necessary arrangements to reschedule the exams for the affected candidates at Ilorin.

We will reschedule them. Even though it’s not our problem, it’s the school’s problem, but they are our candidates. - Fabian Benjamin said.

There is no private centre in Ogbomosho and the closest centre to Ogbomosho is Ilorin”. “This disruption happened today and we need to do some technical arrangements first. So, no date has been fixed yet. But we are going to write the exams in Ilorin except if LAUTECH resolves the students unrest” - He added.

However, giving the stats of candidates who have already sat for the UTME examination was disclosed by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede who said "no fewer than 440,000 candidates have sat for the 2017 UTME within two days across the country".

He further added that 2017 UTME examination would end in these states; Bauchi, Abia, Niger states and some other states on May 15th, 2017 while the UTME would continue in Kebbi state, Lagos state, Oyo and some other states.
