FUOYE Renamed After General Adebayo - FG

This is to inform the general public that the Federal Government of Nigeria has officially renamed the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, after the late military governor of the old Western Region, Major General Adeyinka Adebayo.

This development was declared on Saturday by the acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, at the funeral service of the late General, held at All Saints Anglican Church, Iyin Ekiti.

The acting President, who delivered President Muhammadu Buhari’s oration at the funeral service, described Adebayo as an officer and a gentleman indeed, saying his “military trajectory was in a way a lesson in Nigeria’s history.”

The Acting President added that naming of Adeyinka Adebayo Federal University in Oye-Ekiti was one of the ways Nigeria would appreciate his contributions to the country and immortalise him.
